THE EARTH AS EVENT II
SUMMARY
The artistic and geophilosophical project "La Terre comme Événement II" problematizes the relationship between Earth and nature in its artistic and cinematographic aspects. It is a transdisciplinary project which, in essence, leads to the emergence of new images of the Earth, challenging the historically and ethologically marked notion of territory. It is increasingly clear that the territorial logic that captures the Earth is reaching a critical moment, of which the climate crisis and the entry into the Anthropocene are an important indication. In the film "The Earth as Event II", through his use of materials, through the transduction of the arts he develops, he operates a deterritorialization, accentuating the displacement of materials and interrogating them in their almost pre-human originality. Only cinema has the capacity to deterritorialize the logic of historical borders, without illusory reterritorialization. The appearance of the earth in its elementarity, since cinema gives it a place without dominating it, crossed with the equally nomadic phrases that punctuate the video, opens up political possibilities for thinking about the relationship to the earth and to the community of those who inhabit it. It's a creative expression that aims to intervene and give visibility to other possibilities for inhabiting the Earth. But it also has a broader objective: to draw attention to man's place in planetary history, because the moment is decisive, and to make the most of the risks involved. Romy Castro
