What measures can be taken to protect them?
The rapid deployment of delivery platforms such as Uber Eats or Deliveroo has given rise to new workers with an ambiguous status. Working conditions and pay for bike delivery drivers have become progressively tougher, and it is very often undocumented workers who hold these jobs. As public opinion and public authorities become increasingly aware of this situation, how does their exploitation continue, and what measures are being taken in Europe and France to deal with it?

What future for migration
in an era of climate change?
With the effects of climate change, to which Europe has largely contributed, the question of future migration is being raised more than ever. What is the reality of migration-related mobility in the world today, and what will it look like in 2050? What alternative policies should be developed as a result? Catherine Wihtol de Wenden, specialist in international migration and Director of Research Emeritus at the CNRS, will take us back over the history of migration and our perceptions of it. It's also an opportunity to discover the avenues she has mapped out for the future with her latest book, Figures de l'Autre - Perceptions du migrant en France 1870-2022.

Born in 2000 and passionate about photography and history since childhood, Philémon Barbier, through his photographic work, aims to cast a new perspective on the changing world. He works across various temporal scales, from current events to long-term subjects, thereby offering a more in-depth documentary view, characterized by the journalistic rigor and sensitivity required for accurate portrayal.
By shedding light on the human aspect, his photos narrate the lives of individuals, their social context, intimacy, history, perspective, emotions, and more. His goal is to evoke diverse viewpoints on the world around us and its underlying dynamics. His approach leans towards an artistic style of photography, allowing for multiple interpretations. He uses this approach to tell the stories of the people he encounters, drawing inspiration from contemporary current events.
His work has been featured in various media outlets such as Le Monde, l’Obs, le Pèlerin, le JDD, La Croix l’Hebdo, Courrier International, Mediapart, among others. Philémon Barbier is also a member of the SNJ (National Union of Journalists).
Having completed his training in photojournalism at EMI-CFD under the guidance of Julien Daniel and Guillaume Herbaut in 2020, he co-founded the Hors Format collective.
In 2022, he was awarded the Grande commande nationale de la BNF (National Library of France) and the Grant for New Urban Photography supported by Google and Dysturb at Visa pour l’Image. In 2023, he received the grant for contemporary documentary photography from CNAP (National Center for Visual Arts).

Philémon Barbier [ Collectif Hors Format
for Forum Vies Mobiles, a mobility think tank.
From 18 January to 6 April 2024, the Mémoire de l’Avenir gallery and Forum Vies Mobiles, the mobility think tank, are presenting the work of photographer Philémon Barbier / Collectif Hors Format.
Commissioned by Forum Vies Mobiles, Barbier set off in 2021 to meet bicycle couriers working for major platforms such as Uber Eats and Deliveroo. It follows their frantic journeys between home deliveries and long waits for orders. These couriers, most of whom are anonymous, are very often migrants working without protection or rights in a job that pays them a salary in France, where they have chosen to start a new life.
Philémon Barbier recounts the journey of one of them, Azedine*, from Tunisia to France. In doing so, he conveys the hardships, between extreme mobility and submissive immobility, experienced by thousands of immigrants who will in turn come to deliver a hot meal on a rainy evening.
